Humaned vs. Unhumaned
So this post goes back to a couple months ago.. I just didn't get around to writing it up!
Anyway, I'm watching Canada AM one morning, as I do most mornings while getting ready for work, and I hear them talking to a woman about some space exploration and research project... I forget now what the subject was, and I could only hear it, not see it, since I was in the kitchen making coffee. In any event, the discussion goes along and the host asks the guest what she sees as the future of this project and whether manned versus unmanned spacecraft would be the way to go. The woman replies with "Well, I think you mean humaned versus unhumaned spacecraft, and for that I think....." AAAAAGGGHHH !! I don't even remember what she said after that! I mean OMG!! Humaned versus Unhumaned! Is she kidding? Are those even words??!! Geez, somebody hand her a dictionary or better yet give her a grammar lesson. There's this pronoun in the English language that's used when one does not wish to be gender specific or offend one's sensibilities. And the word "manned" is an actual adjective that means "Transporting, operated by, or performed by a human".
Please spare us all from women like this who think every word with the letters M-A-N in it must be neutered in some way!
